Tom Johnson

Managing Partner

Tom Johnson is Managing Partner of the Hill Restaurant Group, a Washington D.C.-based hospitality firm that currently operates six concepts in Capitol Hill. With over 30 years of experience as a successful restaurant operator, Tom joined his friend and investor William Sport in 2018 to breathe new life into some of the Hill’s most historic and beloved establishments, including Hawk ‘n’ Dove, Lola’s, Boxcar Tavern, Ophelia’s Fish House, Tortuga, and Stadium Sports by Nationals Park. A vocal leader in the growing D.C. hospitality scene, Tom is co-chair of the Capitol Hill Business Interest Working Group (formerly Barracks Row Working Group) with Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner Brian Ready (ANC-B603). In this role, Tom leads community meetings and local efforts to boost the visibility of commerce along Barracks Row and promote Capitol Hill as a tourist destination. In addition to his work in Washington, D.C., Tom collaborates with private owners and developers domestically and internationally to build, expand, and operate multi-unit restaurant groups, hotel franchises, resorts, bars, and nightclubs. He is the founder and CEO of Core Hospitality Consulting, which provides a range of services to hospitality clients such as property development, operations, human resources, finance, sales and marketing, brand management, and construction. Some of his recent work includes overseeing the transformation of Beachcomber Resort & Club in Pompano Beach, Florida.
